This work is about the indexicality of the photographic surface, and the role snapshot photography has in grappling with death and the unknown. The work is a series of multiples that includes plaster casts of snapshot photographs and casts of the interior of box cameras.

“I have been collecting snapshot prints from antique dealers since 2019. The prints have accrued physical damage to their photographic surfaces over their “lifetime”. Their corners have tears, there are creases that run through the middle of the prints and bits of flaked off emulsion peeling away from the paper.” — Keely Hopkins
