Art Camps

Art in the World – July 2 to 5 ($200 – Second Child $180)
This camp centres on observation, inspiring young artists to create work based on what’s close at hand. Through drawing, painting, and sculpture, we’ll depict our connections to ourselves, others, and our surroundings. Traditional and experimental techniques will be used, covering portraiture, still life, and landscape. Sculpture with materials like paper maché and clay will teach form and texture in 2D and 3D. Mindfulness techniques will fuel exercises in imagining characters and landscapes. We’ll delve into world-building, crafting characters and their environments. Throughout, we’ll study contemporary and historical artists, highlighting the magic of everyday life.

Animation Lab – July 8 to 12 ($250 – Second Child $225)
Get ready for an exciting journey into the world of animation during this week-long workshop! We’ll dive into the captivating art of stop-motion animation, which has a fascinating history dating back to the early days of filmmaking. We’ll embark on small-scale independent projects, exploring camera-less animation techniques, two-dimensional animation collage, and creating stop-motion puppets. Then, we’ll focus on a collaborative, longer-form stop-motion project. This project will be showcased during a family and friends movie night at the end of the camp. Topics covered in the second half will include storytelling, storyboarding, and bringing stop-motion puppets to life. Get ready to unleash your creativity and bring your ideas to life on the big screen!
