Art & Theatre Camp Information

$200 per child, per camp unless otherwise stated.

Ages 6-10:

Art Camp: Pet Portraits July 3 - 7 (Rotunda)
Students will create portraits of pets and animals using various art processes throughout the week. Students will work with local professional artists on felting, sculpture, painting, collage and more along with super fun daily adventures, storytelling and outings in the community.
A portfolio exhibit of their projects is displayed at a reception for week’s end.

Art Camp: Whale of a Time! July 10- 14 (Rotunda)
Students will spend time exploring deep sea creatures in their art projects this week. A trip to the Bedford institute of Oceanography will start the week off, we will then work with professional artists using our inspirations doing plaster sculptures, Chihuly Glass, clay, sketchbook art and more! A reception and exhibit of their work will end this exciting Summer Art Camp.

Theatre Camp: Superhero VS July 17 - 21 (Theatre)
Students will work this week on creating and producing an exciting performance about ensuing battles between glory-seeking Superheroes in a play written just for them by students in our Scriptwriting Camp!

Ages 11-15:

Horror Movie Camp July 3 - 7 (Theatre)
Calling all zombies!!! Students will be led with a local professional filmmaker learning the skills to write, produce, film and edit a Horror Movie Trailer which will be featured in our BLUENOSE GHOSTS Horror Movie Trailer Challenge in October!

Scriptwriting July 10 - 14 (New Boardroom + Rotunda)
Students will work with a local director/ Actor/ Playwright learning the ins and outs of writing a script for the big stage. Together they will learn the skills while working to create a script for Superhero VERSUS! A play to be performed in our following week’s Theatre Camp.

Circus Camp with Willy Badger July 24- 28 (Theatre)
Come run away to the old-time traveling circus with Storyteller / Busker Willy Badger and his crew of traveling entertainers. During the week the circus hands (campers) will create their own juggling props, their own circus back drop through video and pastels plus put on an entertaining variety show for all to see. Everyday Willy will have story time which will prepare the campers for the Friday show. The week just flies by with many activities plus scheduled free time play and snacks with new and old friends. Music & mime, arts & crafts & circus skills are introduced during the week all leading to Showtime Friday. So come one come all and join the Traveling Circus when they arrive at Alderney Landing on July 24th.

Haunted Sculptures “Monuments of Horror”
(2 week camp @ $300) July 17 - 28 Rotunda

Students will spend this time with a local large scale professional sculptor creating ghoulish monuments to be featured for public display in October’s Bluenose Ghosts Festival. Structure, design, hands on experience exploring materials, tools and basic necessities needed to creatively design and build gigantic, horrifying monster displays to be featured in our Bluenose Ghosts Festival!
